Bernal heights

Bernal Heights was once considered San Francisco’s best kept secret. In recent years, however, it has gained tremendous popularity to become one of the most sought after neighborhoods in the city.

Located south of the Mission District and Noe Valley, Bernal Heights has a quaint small-town feel that can make you forget you’re only about 15 minutes from the bustling San Francisco downtown area.

The neighborhood’s hilly streets are decked with charming single-family homes, and its dog-friendly parks provide panoramic views of the city below. The area has its own shopping strip along Cortland Avenue, where you can find dozens of family-owned stores and markets, restaurants, and services.

With a great location and family-friendly atmosphere, Bernal Park is a rare gem where you can get the best of both worlds.

Real estate in Bernal Heights

The vast majority of homes in Bernal Heights are 50 to 75 years old, and quite a few are over a century old, updated with the latest features for safety and convenience. Many boast the Victorian row house architecture that has come to be synonymous with San Francisco.

If you prefer a more contemporary look, you will also find new construction homes with modern features, such as large glass windows, open floor plans, and the latest appliances.

Homes in Bernal Heights were built on hilly terrains with stunning city views. Along with everything else it has to offer, this has made real estate in the neighborhood highly desirable to a wide range of homebuyers, including young families, retirees, and single professionals and tech workers.

As of November, 2021, the median listing price in the neighborhood was around $1.5 million, with a median square footage of approximately 1,566.
