Dogpatch

The Dogpatch is home to artists, musicians, designers, and even SF’s local chapter of the Hells Angels. As this area was not hit particularly hard by the 1906 earthquake, you will find some of the oldest houses around town here, alongside new construction. The neighborhood is filled with single family homes and duplexes, along with an abundance of newly converted live-work lofts, new apartments, and condominiums that are either under construction or recently completed.

If you do not have a car, you will find the Dogpatch to be a commuter’s dream. Since it is relatively flat, getting around on foot and bike are very easy. The Muni T Line and Caltrain station are both within walking distance as well. Check out some of the creative spaces and galleries at the Minnesota Street Project or the collections at the McEvoy Foundation for the Arts. Grab a drink at the local watering hole Dogpatch Saloon, where dogs are welcome, or dine at one of my favorite authentic local Italian establishments, Marcella’s Lasagneria. You will also love dog-friendly Esprit Park, with its small track and outdoor fitness equipment. This little district packs a lot, while still tending to be quieter on weekends as many establishments cater to the surrounding businesses
